Tips & useful info i wrote on SA forums all members found useful, i have also copied the other coments posted by users.
--------------------
Now... I'm sure most of you prob know this stuff or currently use it but i have spoken to a few members over the last few weeks who didnt know or had not heard of some of these tips.
I dont class myself as an elite player, nor do i think i know it all but i have found these tips useful when playing^^ Please feel free to add more as you go.
Commands:-
Now my source is completely standard the only changes i have made are to the crosshair this is:
cl_crosshairscale 4000 - Makes the crosshair smaller
cl_dynamiccrosshair 0 - stop the crosshair expanding as you walk
cl_crosshairalpha 999 - makes the crosshair darker
cl_crosshairusealpha 1 - makes you use the darker crosshair
In game:-
I get alot of head shots, its because i aim at the head, easy enough? no, i have found the above crosshair or smaller gives me an excellent aim for the head, i use the green crosshair also btw.
To stat off with Walk AIMING at head height^^ I see sooooo amny people looking at the floor as they walk.....you wont kill the floor..... dont aim at it. If you look at the floor or even at a slight floor angle when you pull your mouse back to move the crosshair to head / chest height it will throw your aim off similar to walking or jumping and shooting. Practice learning the height of the css models head and always walk aiming that high. Even when on slopes going up or down or looking over edges, try to aim where the head should be
Straife:-
Straife is great but when you straife left (for example) it will throw your aim off. When standing still your aim is centred, you move left it gets draged the way you move and thrown about, to combat this when straife shooting, hit the opposite direction to centre your aim. example:-
if you straife left, before you shoot hit the right straife button then fire, and the same goes for straifing right hit the left straife then shoot. This will make your aim more accurate as it centrealises your aim as if you were standing still, the same goes for walking forwards or backwards, hit the opposite direction before shooting. While it is sometimes hard to do this, its worth trying as often as u can and getting in the habit of doing so.
while walking around i always seem to auto hit the opsite straife key as i walk around the map to centrealise my aim more incase of a suprise attack.
Fire:-
i will mainly comment on the M4 / AK as that is really all i use (and deagle / usp) the AK is slightly more accurate and the m4 sprays better up close. When aiming with either i burst fire 2-3 shots (holding down the fire button for litterally a second or two should do it, but practice facing a wall and shoot at a single spot, you should see 3 bullet holes. - you can also try this to help with your straife shooting - i did it really helped.
The walking at head height with this 2-3 bullet shot tends to make a lethal team, however should you not hit 100% and kill - wait a second for the aim to come back and shoot again.
If you are very close to the opponent (like 6 foot), hold down spray aiming at their chest, or stomach and that tends to work, try not to jump i find it throws off your aim too much. The m4 is better at this spray than the ak, although the AK seems to like a lower aim at the spray point (waist to stomach). Try not to spray and if you do dont use all ur bullets, a nice trick is to spray 3/4 of a clip then pistol shoot, if u dont kill with the pistol u should still have 6-10 bullets in ur m4/ak to finish them off while they reload
If the opponent is still a good distance away dont spray, but try to shoot 4-6 bullets if the first 2-3 didnt kill the 4-6 should do it.
Single shots:- they do work but it is best not to 100% rely on a single shot incase you miss or it doesnt kill them, always have your 2-3 firing if u can
Well thats not it all but my hands hurt, i could go into more tactics around the map but each player does things differently. I dont expect you all to do this but maybe adapt it into your style - I have found this works well for me, i hope you all can find it of use
other comments from other SA members:-
from Roku:-
Well, awping is simply reactions I find. Its about aiming at the choke points, waiting for someone to move accross and fire at the right time (something I didn't do on an ED map beta test the other day and ended up being called a n00b for a few rounds, despite from having a decent score)
With the awp, your main objective is support, an awp isnt a single man rambo weapon. You want to get into a position where you just need someone to walk out from cover and you blow them away. Simple plan, but near impossible in an actual game, since there are sooooo many choke points and each one requires you to be positioned perfectly. A good example would be cs_italy, where Corran will sit in the window and make sure nothing gets up the hall. You must remember never to move with an AWP, the slightest movement makes it miss.
Also, remember and AWP is a one-shot kill weapon, when you run with it, aim for the chest instead of the head, if someone rounds a corner at the exact same time as you do, simply look at them and fire, good reactions are needed, if your fast enough, you can usually do this. The AWP must also cock after every shot, treat this as the same as if you were reloading a normal gun (meaning you find cover and wait until your ready to fire).
Once you get good at standing still and killing people as they run accross the choke point, you can start to predictivly shoot through doors, only differece being, you don't see them as they run past.
Have a short range weapon as secondary, Glock, USP, Deagle (sometimes not effective at close range), Five-Sevens, Dualies, any pistol will do, just choose the one your best at close range.
Final tip, try to avoid having to be the one who has to peek out of cover, but if you must, make sure you know where to aim. Then step out, but give a quick tap on the opposite direction movement key, that will make you stop faster and so increasing accuracy.
Also, I use a Red crosshair, useless on the external areas of dust maps, but useful on every other map.
from Rob:-
If you want to learn to to use the awp/scout as soul has said you need to be able to fast switch.
everyone has different playing styles when coming to this some leave it to do it, its self taking them few seconds longer which in turn could leave you open to be shot. Or you can use the Q button to do fast switch just tap twice and your reloaded.
I my self use my mouse scroll button to fast switch but the only draw back i have found with this is that you can sometimes go to far and miss the awp/scout and end up trying to kill someone with your knife.
But all i can say if you want to learn to use these rifles the best two maps i found to learn to aim are awp_india for the range and positioning reasons and fy_iceworld for quick reactions and reloading when at close range.
So when it comes down to the job in hand you should or will be able to hold your own against people that are trying to rush, but remember even if you manage to kill one person fall back to a cover position and set your aim for where they will show them selves.
Never aim to close to a wall or a door as your reactions will not be that quick to kill them, and like rock said always have a back with a pistol.
As for pistols i find it better to take my time picking shots with these as its far more effective to kill someone with less bullets and little recoil, most people just go all guns firing yeah it sometimes works but you have to remember about the recoil with the gun you are using.
The best guns for (as i say) balls of steal are, Five-Sevens, Dualies and Compact
and for range Usp, Degale, Glock is ok when rushing as t with burst fire just aim for the head and they should die other than that glock sucks imo.
So hope this comes in handy for some of you or has it been a 5 min time waster for me
-------------------------------------
Hope u guys find it useful
