How about trying out de_wanda and greymill (suggested earlier) for Thursday 27-9-07. Last weeks map was great apart from it was too big. Question

I really like the look of Wanda, so I would like to see how it plays. Shocked

It looks big to me but lets give it a go, hopefully we will have enuf players to do it justice.

I've already uploaded it to the CS server, I'll upload it to the downloads section tonight.

I'm working on us having fast downloads for CS servers maps, sounds, etc. This may mean its fast enough just to download on the night. I trialed it with a small map which took 80 seconds to download with the current setup and 7 seconds Surprised

with the fast downloads setup.

For those that are interested, for the fast downloads to work, you have to host the maps, sounds, etc on another server (which luckily we have, via my work) and then change some settings - I just need to upload all the files and do a few tests.

Your download solution sounds good. I guess its a bit like mini bit torrent. Wanda looks big but I think that may be an elusion as getting to bomb sites is pretty quick. Its all up rather than along. Very Happy

Scoped Weapons will have to be restricted on this map! No debate just get over it!
There are some big spaces and anyone holding back in a sniping posistion will make this map a farce! There you have been warned.

Ok, I have the fastdownloads working for our server now and I must say it rocks!

Just deleted my local copy of de_wanda and logged onto the CS server and changed maps to de_wanda. With the fast connection and compressed map file I just downloaded a 150meg (64meg compressed) file in around 2 minutes Exclamation

This speed will vary depending on your own connection speed, I have a 8meg connection and I estimate I was downloading at around 533 KB/s (using approx 4.5meg of my 8meg connection).

This is massive map and the usual size of new maps will be a lot less than this - so i think we can probably forget pre-downloading and installing these maps and just logon Laughing

The fastdownloads works with just about any file that needs to be downloaded - You (Jester) will be glad to know the sounds clips are no longer a problem. So bring it on Exclamation

email me those sound clips!
